Cumberland, Maryland's , " The Tunnel or The Underpass ", Disgusting Tourist Mecca Tunnel ~ Baltimore Street and CSX

I will pepper this with descriptive real life, non staged pictures of disgusting things I found one evening while carrying my Android investigative research and chronicling device, that can even make a phone call. (lol)

I am the Constant Observer and reporter and always analyzing.

It is like my making music, I just do what I have to do by my nature.

Here again on a city level we have discussed, or in other words meaning wasted time, the issue of this tunnel, which is an absolute disgrace but has simple solutions.

This is a charming city I am trying to offer the outside world a view of, and obviously we have our glaring drawbacks with simple solutions.

I typically write and post pictures of the beautiful assets all around this area, but I must point out these massive shortcomings they are never addressed for years and are a health issue as well as a danger issue. there is no doubt this is not sound, and you can watch trains go by directly above it that bounce on the tracks while the tracks ride up and down on the railroad ties lifting off the gravel beneath them.

This is serious as it stress the ground below which is above a structure of the tunnel below that is being constantly pulsed wit stresses of large trains of heavily laden down coal.

Repeated pulsations of tom of pressure per square inch cannot be safe, and the fluids that are on the track and toxins from above drain down through these stress cracks that are meagerly covered with rotten plywood, which is moldy, rotten, soaked in moisture continually, and and eyesore, however I am thankful it let me inspect and picture the evidence that is there for anyone to witness who wants to walk into an urine feces smelling cess pool of a tunnel, full of garbage and graffiti.

We should not have to pay for any assessment of what needs to be dozed. We do not have money to waste. We do have money n the future perhaps to pace a beautiful artful modern and classy bridge, that may be incorporated with an even better Amtrak Station that becomes another focal sight of the town I envision, but do not think others have an inkling of.

Spend the money of any research of its structure to demolish, because they will say demolish it, then we have to pay them and do what we should do to start with, what is the cost to fill it in for one, and is CSX legally responsible for this, legal research may show a surprise.

Reconstruct it and place live monitored cameras and police on those corners with a town walking beat like we need.

Does anyone pay attention to the riff raff and the drunks and the drugs that dominate that corner?

I already know what the tourists think, the same thing most of the town folks think.

My plan is to be a cynic, not often picking local political sides that typically  make atrocious decisions through a lack of vision, and talk more then they accomplish.

We just got land and gave away 40 acres of a city tax people owned park, the citizens park, and got swashbuckled by corporate arm twisting by them to dum a liability on us, swipe our park, and in a high pressure deadline situation, and so we fell for it with absolutely no garauntee for funding of a new school.

I have plenty of ideas if that falls through and if it comes to fruition Amen, however I would request and will petition the community if need be about an investigation into the corporate influence to make this land transaction happen at the speed it did when you knew the city was in a financial pickle.

If you cared about this city that much, you would have invested in the project yourselves, and further helped educate the children of school age with state of the art technology and taught medical theology and basic prepratory transitional classes for our local college programs,into the curriculum that will be such a booming business as it is. The new school could have a special Green Center Medical Co-Op on the park land, now that would be an exceptional idea. I simply hope that this is not one again a massive SNAFU by our local political leaders perhaps being twisted into a political shape by those with the largest corporation that had done what they have pleased at will here and seemingly with out real reguard for the community, but with the base line, as I expect from any business, to make money.

My question is what about each and every oath each Medical Doctor takes and what has happened to the meaning of this in today's medicine.

So back to the beautiful tunnel at the end of Baltimore Street that goes under out railroad track, which by the way, floats exceeding up and down beyond rail yard norms concerning freight trains (this should be reported or one ht summer day before a speed limit is in effect for the coal trans, we could have a derailment easily, as the tracks that give as the ones I speak of are much more aptly to bend as they have already lost strength due to this repeated and un-needed stressing they go through repeatedly on a daily level. This is just another example of poor diagnosis by the track engineers and maintenance crews, as well as perhaps not laying a hard enough pack foundation under each tie that get replaced, it may be as simple as milling special ties of a slightly thicker height to take up for this slack, if it can leave the rail level at the proper or reasonable and acceptable height congruent with the surrounding tracks.

August 21, 2012, just over 6 months later from the time I published this, we indeed had a derailment as I predicted and  and suggested  and reported to CSX via phone suggesting so, the reasons specific to my concern, and told them I had video from that day earlier of the dangerous floating track.

I never heard anything back at all, so I decided to write this blog, as I see the two issues here as combined in their nature and proximity in existence.


I also have video of this section of trck floating up wnd down that nearly exactly correspons to the picture alongside the newspaper article.

I will post that as soon as I have time to.

Just some thoughts as i have observed and thought this out for a long time, and even spoken to my Father, which is now a Ret. Col. Army Corps of Engineers and Retired Assistant Head of Construction from the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro Transit Authority.

Which leads me back to the tunnel...Good God...let's look at the pictures...they are disgusting and I will add a few notes about what is depicted so I will warn you know they will be offensive and disgusting and unacceptable which is my point because they are and it is what we are accepting, and my question is why ?

So here is our glorious tunnel I have pictured and I will describe what may need any descriptions.

I also beg of you to re-post this blog, send it to our local county, and state representatives and state we are tired of talk...make it a bridge over top that is safe of fill this piss hole in!

Makes me feel like we all settle for no class, which must truly be the case, because these pics are the signs of FALLING and FAILING!

DRAINAGE FROM LEAKING AND DANGEROUS DISINTIGRATING SUPPORT FOR THE VERY TUNNEL ITSELF, A STUDY IS NOT NEEDED TO CONFIRM THIS AS ANY ONE CAN TELL BY LOOKING AT IT, AND I AM NOT SPEAKING OF THE TILE VENEER BUT WHAT LIES BEHIND THE ROTTEN WOOD YOU CAN SEE THROUGH. IT IS BRICK AND STONE LEAKING WITH LOTS OF SEEPING WATER FILLED FOR POISONOUS CHEMICAL FROM THE TRAIN TRACKS ABOVE.

AND WHY SCUM-BALLS CAN WALK 20 MORE YARDS TO A TRASH CAN THE CITY HAS NICELY PLACED AND MAINTAINED ALL AROUND IS BEYOND ME.




HERE IS THE WOODEN FACADE OVER THE OLD LEAKING UNSAFE ORIGINAL TUNNEL LINING THAT SEEPS WATER WITH TOXIC CHEMICALS, AND IS CLEARLY NOT ONLY AN EYESORE BUT NOT SAFE IN MORE WAYS THEN ONE.




HERE IS A "NICER" VIEW OF THE CESSPOOL ONE MUST TRAVERSE WHILE HOLDING YOUR BREATH FROM THE SMELL OF URINE, VOMIT, AND FECES, AND STAGNANT WATER TO TRAP IT ALL. I AM CERTAIN A HEALTH PROBLEM THAT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT SHOULD CONDEMN.

IN POLICE SCIENCE, SIGNS CAN BE GREAT DETERRENTS, HOWEVER IT IS OBVIOUS IN THIS INSTANCE THE SIGNS ARE A BLATANT LIE, THERE ARE NO CAMERA OR SURVEILLANCE,  AND THIS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY, WHEN MONEY CAN BE PLACED INTO BETTER LIGHTING, DRAINAGE, AND POLICE ON THE BEAT REGULARLY EVERY NIGHT, ESPECIALLY WITH THE INEXPENSIVE ADVENT OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY AND THE EVER DECREASING PRICES OF MINIATURIZED OPTICS WITH BETTER PICTURE QUALITY INCREASING.
