Is there a connection here that is being overlooked? Read this article and then the one that follows.

Perhaps new discoveries not yet connected as these are so fresh each just discovered / hypothesized.

These articles / studies posted only hours apart.

Quote from first link:

"Astronomers hope that high-energy gamma-rays will help them better understand cosmic rays, charged particles that whiz throughout the cosmos. The problem is that researchers still don't know where these particles, which are mostly protons stripped from hydrogen atoms, receive their energy boost."

Fund the Footer Dye Works Project ~ Sign the petition Today Please !!! ~ Cumberland, Maryland

https://www.change.org/p/city-county-and-state-officials-fund-the-footer-dye-works-project

This is another's work that I am sharing here to help provide support for a very worthy project.

I hope you will take the time to peruse this important petition and provide your support as well.

Fund the Footer Dye Works Project

The City of Cumberland and Canal Place have announced the interest of a renowned business owner located in Frederick, MD, to open a similar microbrewery/brewpub to his Barley & Hops establishment, in the first floor of the historic Footer Dye Works building in Downtown Cumberland, MD.
Before the establishment can open, however, the Footer Dye Works restoration project must be funded by the property's owner, the State of Maryland.
Central to restoring the building and utilizing the millions of dollars of private developer dollars provided by a well-respected, proven developer, Mr. Michael Joy, is state funding to fund deferred building maintenance, totaling $1.5 million.  This deferred maintenance will provide for window maintenance, roof maintenance, and other maintenance deferred on the project by the property owner, the State of Maryland.
More quality dining and loft style apartments are important to the continued revitalization of Downtown Cumberland.  Reuse of the state-owned historic Footer Building with the maintenance gap filled by state funds, will bring about economic growth in the form of 100 jobs with an incremental state tax revenue of $500,000 annually, according to the economic impact study.  This means that at the full rate, the taxes collected from the property will fully refund the deferred maintenance of the building in three years.
The developer of the property is held in high regard in the community, for having completed several local projects already and he has been approved for redevelopment tax credits for the property.  The anchor first floor tenant is a proven microbrewery owner in Maryland, with a positive track record.
Cumberland is at a crossroads on this project.  The two options are to fund the remaining maintenance by including it as a capital project in Governor Hogan's budget, to encourage millions of dollars of private development and reuse of a historic building to create economic growth, increased tax base and jobs...or leave the building to remain in a blighted, run down condition in the middle of Downtown Cumberland at Canal Place, at a future expected demolition cost of $1.5 million.
The choice is simple.  Fund the project to create jobs.  Fund the project to encourage economic growth in Downtown Cumberland.  Fund the project to bring a historic building back to life and contribute positively to Cumberland's economy.
As an engaged citizen, I encourage you to give your full support to this project.  Help create jobs, economic growth and revitalization in Downtown Cumberland by committing to state funding that will be matched several times over with private investment dollars.

Why I signed below:

"I believe this will be the cornerstone to Canal Place as well as an anchor to a project that has held years of growth with uncertain stability through struggle, which will now have the main attraction of a beautifully restored building with tenants and residents that will be the main attraction to a bustling tourist area that has grown increasingly each year. Out city deserves to further shine a spotlight in this particular area rich with history and improved infrastructure alongside new development. This investment by the state will prove their trust in our city and help to build a larger tax base through this investment that is going to be able to secure the next step of revitalizing this historic building and in the near future be able to pay back worthy dividends both directly and indirectly through the business it both conducts in house and promotes in this corridor. I urge the state to back this area which has far too often been an after thought for far too long. The recent elections sent a clear and resounding voice from our area and we expect that the constituents wishes will be met here at home so we can continue to be a shining example of what is possible with coordinated bipartisan vision and transparency we practice here at home. Thanks for this special consideration from my home here in Cumberland, Maryland, "The Queen City"."

Posted to Google Calendar Help Forum ~ 01 22 2015

I will try my best to be poignant.

I am not aware if I can share my calendar with selected family and friends.

Is it possible (now or upon my suggestion herein) to schedule an even in calendar, and then categorize it in a way that would let me share it with select groups?

An example would be a party at home I want to invite certain contacts too, such as my musician friends. Or a special day such as a funeral or graduation that i want to share with family.

I could then through the server, choose to send all an email, inviting non users to open a calendar account, and then automatically schedule the "event", as well as send a reply about their intentions to attend.

These replies and sent messages could be in a special folder within gmail specific to the calendar function only as well.

Also, being able to highlight in the color of my choice would further help me organize events by prioritizing then each in color.

This could be especially useful for reunions, concerts where anyone within the users list of specific contacts may want to attend, or any other type of event, I just listed a couple to make the brain of the reader brainstorm this usefulness.

I think facebook is missing the boat in this regards and Calendar alone could be a social platform, some public, some private, and some in between by special lists, that could truly revolutionize social planning, be it for a small city as where I live in Cumberland, Maryland for example. I desire a public calendar (as just a single instance and separate account perhaps) where I, or anyone else, can schedule all public and private events in my city, to see who has a fund raiser, who is in concert, when charity drives are being held, when public meetings take place, ad infinitum, so that I can look and plan ahead with all the specific details, such as dress code, price, maps, who plans on attending, etc, and a feature where I can mass email my friends (or whomever I place on a list that accepts said invitation) so social planning becomes a greater task of ease with communication a given instead of a chore.

If required fields are not properly filled in during the original entry, then they would not be able to be posted and then shared amoungst the group, as this would insure no future guess work. Obviously this system could and should evolve like any prime software and therefore become "the" useful tool in the marketplace and remain that way.

Perhaps G+ utilizes this and I have overlooked it, however, I have found nothing that would be as useful as this to date.

There is a huge market that is being missed amoung professionals as well, such as lawyers and doctors for example, where this could be a very useful tool to be utilized, as example again but not limited too, the courts and the attorneys serving the jurisdiction and the clients in areas far and wide. I have worked in a legal office and see this void clearly. Scheduling is perhaps one of the items or tasks that consumes the most time coordinating between parties, and this "niche" needs to be and should be filled, with the possibility of it, once again, being the platform for everyone to gravitate too, and then furthermore be broken down and divided into different user entities, be they professional or social, etc, with an area for live conversation in threads, as well as private messaging, and voice messaging in live time or any other feature already available already across the net.

I hope I have not typed this and have missed something that already exists, but if that is the case, well it should be better telegraphed so more users can use these features with the greatest of ease.

Time is money, so one cliche says, and fro experience, time spent being organize always means greater productivity and efficiency as well as more time to spend doing what we each enjoy, whatever that may be.

I am excited to hear valuable feedback here and hope I will find answers or spark and even greater platform for all of us to use in our daily lives.

Thanks for your time and input.

Sincerely,

John Stephen Swygert

Mexico Farms Allegany County Waste Disposal Cumberland, Maryland 21502

This is the start of my research here at home where I am curious about the waste disposal of human and other waste that is trucked into my home area from abroad and sprayed onto fields tondry.

As this research unfolds, I will share research links, pictures, and speculation as well as fact about this process.

I wonder often why people here are sonsick, and my hunch is this is a huge problem with chemicals used, possible runoff into the adjacent Potomac River and airborne pathogens that could be present.

I want to discover what areas we serve, what chemicals are used, what the process it, what the waste is used for afterwards and who is in charge of this program on a local level all the way through to federal oversight.

FEMA is located nearby too, as well as a Federal prison so you would think regulations arebwell followed, however I rarely hear about this local industry in any aspect.

I am asking you the readers, citizens close by or far and wide, to sharevwith me and the reading audience what your thoughts are, what your research and experience have to share, and what this means long term for the health of the citizens here as well as other areas where this practice is utipized.

As thisbreseacrh unfolds I will be editing this report with links, specifics, laws, ad infinitum, anout this entire process seemingly not very well scrutinized.

I beg of you to reach out and contact me and share any material, footage, pictures, research, etc. With me as I conduct this privateninvestigation, and my largest concerns are that of the local health of citizens and wildlife here.

The Potomac river, which I grew up on, is adjacent to this land, and the lication is also not very far from a superfund site, which we all know werevnever cleaned up as conclusively, or thoroughly, as possible.

Tonight I was at the local Emergency Room which had no rooms in back and a lobby full of 60 or more folks, patients and family, waiting to be seen. It is flu season on this day of January 19, 2015, and this year has been an epidemic in those concerns as it is very well reported, not to mention the flu vaccine not being entirely as effective as hoped this year.

Perhaps their is no correlation at all with the two, however I cannot help but wonder what is making so many here so ill, so often, even outside of flu season.

We have strains of disease stronger (more resistant) then ever today, antibiotics that are becoming ineffective, and a population here that has terrible overall health as well as poor dental health when compared to the national average, and these facts are very easily verifiable.

Every aspect of health must be considered and perhaps the most important aspect is prevention. Are we contaminating our water and air here locally as a dumping pist for human waste in an industry poorly regulated and wreaking havoc upon our population? It is notoriously windy here, with wind turbines on most surrounding ridges, and it would be no surprise to me that everyday we are inhaling fecal matter, pathogens, and chemicals that are very detrimental to our entire liveliehood in every facet.

Industry here at home is desperately needed for certain, but not at the cost of our collective health and longevity.

I also observe a very high per capita degree of birth defects, mental retardation, and disease, that certainly must be linked to industry and in particular the chemicals used in those industries as well as pathogens that thrive in some of these industries too.

In this instance, as I understand the topic thus far, fecal matter is trucked in from abroad, treated, and then sprayed across large flat fiels with jets from irrigation like machinery where it is left to dry in the sun. If it isndrying, that ,eans we have evaporation, which in turn means we have moisture with chemicals at the very least, and possibly pathogens, rising into the air where the wind can carry it away. As no system is ever perfect and typically flawed or not worki g properly at times, there certainly must be, at the least, runoff problems as well, straigh into the ground below or directly into the river or nearby tributaries, and all finding itsvway into the waterways further downstream, thus contaminating the area. The wind would do the same type of damage spreading these contaminants abroad.

This is just "food for thought", and aspects that I will be further studying. As with most topics like this, I do not expect any cooperation or real concern from most professionals and perhaps not much help from the average under-educated citizen here either, as these issues are typically over convoluted and soiled with money which in turn often spoils industry protocols and regulation with violations in actual practice often used to cut corners and save money.

Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised, however my gut says my speculation is correct, however I will do my very best to remain objective, thorough, and pure with fo us.

Ultimately, I just know something is wrong, and as a man with a degree in science and an investigative mind and nature, I seek to unravel this story and see what may be found and how we can all change our habits and practices to better prevent these practices and possibilities of contamination.

There are other similar practices that are used in mining and fracking that I also may sight to further lend a conveyance of how these practices focused on here have an impact locally and further away too.

I also would like to learn what the "final product" is utilized for, and how it goes right back into our foodbchain from each and every practice.

The additions will be made below this last original paragraph here, and all edits and or additions will be found there, so please check back often for updates, as this will be an evolving piece of literature / research.

To start with, I am adding links below to thoroughly study, from these I will extract information while studying and report my findings below. These may be specific to this report, or also may contain other pertinent information about the area and/or similar issues to further study and consider:

A Plea to the Citizens of Cumberland, Maryland and All Across This Country

With 8,661 likes on this page as I write this post, I have a plan I would like to introduce to the citizens here in Cumberland primarily, as well as abroad.

I have shared this with many local politicians, including the Mayor, a County Commissioner, a City Councilman as well as the State's Attorneys Office, and many others.

As my thoughts are this precisely, a course of action with a direct impact through community cohesiveness alongside law enforcement, is the best plan to implement, in quick order, to help prevent, curb, and prosecute crime in this modern day and age that we all see too often proliferating.

Please take a moment to read this thoroughly and state what ever your ideas, suggestions, and opinions are so this plan, or proposal if you will, can further be formulated and promoted.

We, as a community, need to further utilize all the tools at our collective disposal to eradicate the problems here at home swiftly, as I myself am tired of this as much as the rest of you each, and plan on utilizing my education and talents alongside you all to help pave a way for a safer, and therefore healthier city, as I will stand for nothing less!

I believe Cumberland After Dark provides an excellent real time community service, that is not just needed, but vitally valuable in spreading primarily events as they happen, and perhaps secondarily, sharing our thoughts about precisely how we all plan to combat crime in our city and abroad, setting an example for other jurisdictions to follow.

I ask you Cumberland After Dark, to please allow this post to remain, so valuable feedback may be garnered in quick order and we as a collective can help extinguish what we all too often experience, witness, and are impacted by, in this city we love.

To further appeal to the citizens, just think of anytime a crime has happened, and if it had happened to you, would you rather have more or less evidence against these criminals that are jeopardizing our collective property, families, and freedoms?

I hope to be overwhelmed with responses, which you may directly send to my inbox or list under the comments section, so that we may further refine a course of action in very quick order.

I promise to you that I will diligently work on this until we see changes come to fruition.

I am not a politician and do not take sides. I am a citizen seeking solutions and demand (nicely) we all overcome these burdens upon us together with no political divide. I will not respond to any political divisiveness either.

Finally, I would like to tag a few entities as well and hope that this facet alone will further help spread the idea of a possible initiative. WCBC Radio, Cumberland Times-News, Cumberland Maryland, Amanda Mangan, Amanda Mangan, Cumberland City Police Department, Maryland State Police - Aviation Command

Let us make social networking work for us, and feel free to tag any entity you think may find this of interest.

Thanks for your time and thoughts and I hope we can together make this an even better place to reside for our loved ones.

A Broken Man ~ Poetry / Lyric ~ MobiusTripz

Empty soul,
and so alone,
life elusive,
cold as stone,

time slips,
further away,
soon with Mother,
in my grave,

always a child,
until that day,
when our parents,
pass away,

holding on,
praying deep,
from my eyes,
tears do weep.

A broken man,
no longer boy,
once boisterous,
now often coy,

Aching heart,
energy spent,
miss my dear,
time so lent.

Seeking youth,
life given left,
our art missing,
so bereft,

try to write,
words so hollow,
no brush to oil,
empty I wallow,

No music sweet,
nor glint in eye,
my spirit ripped,
my heart hath died,

Breath eludes me,
what left have I,
memory indelible,
hold on I try.

A broken man,
no longer boy,
once boisterous,
now often coy,

Aching heart,
energy spent,
miss my dear and,
our time so lent.

Proposal for Preventing, Prosecuting and/or Monitoring Crime in Small and Large Cities

Here is a plan I propose to help further fight crime here in Cumberland,  Maryland and abroad, as I think this could be a system emulated by other jurisdictions as well once the benefits are spelled out after it has been in place.

With the modern advent of cloud computing and high speed internet as well as imaging, we are on the threshold of a new horizon technologically speaking.

My plan is rather simple.

We design a pilot program based on this foundation proposed herein, and  further evolve it as we see needed here locally.

I have volunteered my home and thoughts to a few local politicians, and I would like to outline those very sentiments in further detail herein.

Utilizing high speed internet, we ask citizens to volunteer their homes as sites where cameras, and perhaps motion detectors too, may be placed outside their homes to constantly monitor the neighborhoods, send all that data to “the cloud” through a service like Google drop box, and let it only be accessible by the authorities in law enforcement that are / or may be required to use it in the prosecution of any criminal act on the cloud and server side, yet let participants be able to monitor their own devices installed at their homes, however have no access to the cloud service at all.

As a suggestion from the State's Attorney's Office, I was informed (As I make this edit from the original content made today, January 19, 2014) that recording sound may very well be a violation of local, county, state, or federal law, and therefore this aspect should be fastidiously studied and implemented accordingly so based on that suggestion.

I would offer the same service to businesses too, with the exception that they would pay for their service and that funding could be made available and earmarked for the citizens participating to cover the costs  paid for by the city for their participation.

The participants would receive high speed internet at their homes for free from a local cable provider, and the city would pay for that service as well as the hardware, however they carefully contract that service as expected being stewards of our collective tax money to be so spent.  The homeowners ( I would only offer this (free internet) to home owners personally) would have a separate signal (be it hard wired or not) that is not at all integrated into the city surveillance system, and that should be made abundantly clear to them as well, as many feel threatened too often by modern surveillance.

With a few remote and relatively small “workstations” discreetly installed in weather proof boxes outside and servers at a location(s) in the city we could have a very simple system that would need very little maintenance and could monitor activity in real time, and would always upload via the cloud to permanent storage, which in turn could always be viewed/reviewed as so needed. The data saved should be purged as needed as well, further keeping costs more manageable.

I would suggest a weatherproof  “work station”  at each home or business where cameras/sensors are located, that is then set up to upload to both local servers and the cloud too. The servers could hold “x” amount of data, and the cloud service “y” amount of data, as further defined if such a system is determined to be cost effective and fruitful to prevent or prosecute crime as well as assist EMS crews.

We have seen a proliferation in crime recently here locally, in particular but certainly not limited too, violent and “gang” related crime, and we need to further stay more organized and vigilant against the threats we face here at home on many levels. As long as we are only utilizing these data sets to monitor dangerous areas and activities associated with organized illegal behaviors / acts, in the open public, or using the system in time of emergency situations,  we would certainly not be violating any individual civil rights.

I would also like to offer in this plan, a chip that holds homeowner data, such as residents that reside at the address, floor plans of the home, type and amount of pets, type of heating, ad infinitum, and any other information deemed required, first, and then volunteered above and beyond secondarily, so that fire and EMS crews, or law enforcement, can make a quick scan from outside the home, or even from the 911 call center, when so responding to any emergency of any kind. I have long thought this should be a technology implemented and a protocol so followed by responders so that they would be even better prepared to react safely and more efficiently.

I also think that a (the monitoring portion) system like this should have a level of access available to the homeowner too where they can monitor the exact same cameras / sensors remotely via cellular technology utilized on smart phones or via the internet and on their laptop, work station, personal device, etc.,  from where ever they are.

The police would not really need to monitor this system as much, or even at all, if  many vigilant citizens are watching often. There may indeed need to be a very specific screening process, waivers, contracts, etc. involved, but I would think the more simple the better in these aspects, as to not overly convolute and therefore pollute what should be relatively simple and straight forward always.

I envision a system where an LCD screen (or any type of personal device) can have several camera views from outside a residence/business, able to be viewed from inside a participants home or business, or  via a smart device when away, as well as abilities for audible or visual alerts, such as LED’s, text messaging, alarms, etc, for any alerts on the motion sensors being  “tripped”.  When it is deemed a response is required, the participant could have several ways to contact emergency services. As some of you may have noticed, a text will often be sent and received where a cell phone signal is poor and not able to be well utilized. I think texting, because of it working at different frequencies, is a very worthwhile tool that should be a part of this system, as well as it taking less battery power from any personal device, therefore causing less of a drain on a device that may theoretically already be very low on battery power, and again, perhaps may be unable to make an actual cellular call.

Crime may be reported in only a few ways. One, with knowledge prior to an event that an informant wants to help prevent by communicating with law enforcement. Two, after the fact, and three, during the actual event. I do not see a need for employees to monitor such a system non-stop, but rather have the citizens watch over their own homes, and neighborhood too, and then report as needed anything they find either suspicious or out of place, be it during or after the fact. This too could be done with a simple keystroke or text through the system benchmarking the datasets and time-stamping that same dataset to be further scrutinized by professionals.

Furthermore, after an event has taken place undetected, it would be simple to review all camera’s datasets in the vicinity of the alleged event to examine it further for developing suspects.

A recent example I would bring to light on my very own street of residence, from reports through face book, I understand a vehicle was found one day to have bullet holes in it as it sat parked. This is roughly an 1/8 of a mile from my home, or closer even, and had we had cameras at my home, we may have been able to review that footage and see the perpetrators  and/or their vehicle and be able to better hold someone accountable for this crime. There are many other example I could site that are certainly equally worthwhile, but I think the point is abundantly clear.

As technology further develops, we could further evolve this system, as it may ping ip addresses into the system from cell phones, cars, and other personal devices, especially if we also make these areas where cameras/sensors are utilized public hotspots.

If you want to blanket a city better then possible any other way, you always must include citizen participation and a system such as this would quickly give us a huge upper hand protecting life and limb here at home locally while further assisting in introducing criminals into the legal system.

For several years, Cumberland has indeed had the “state of the art” WiFi, however far under utilized. This system is aging, however still useful with the basic infrastructure in place, and this system is the exact system that should further be upgraded and  primarily selected to quickly form a citywide intranet of sorts to combine all of this modern technology swiftly into the fold. It may even be wise to purchase it, as it will be less of an asset to this company that owns it as the technology  becomes further dated., however that is a debate for a different day, but something that should be highly considered in my opinion, as it is all still very useful.

I had an instructor in college, Mr. Pever a retired Alexandria, Virginia Police Officer, who stated to me (our class) in roughly  1989 that if you really want to make money and help prevent crime, think about the safer business of security through modern technology, that he precisely eloquently predicted would explode in the coming decades , and was, of course, wholeheartedly correct, rather then placing your life in harms way as an actual police officer.

I have studied a lot of this at length and for a very long time, and have for a very long time thought on my own, how would I help our city where I reside, if given the chance, to reduce crime and maintain a safer place to live for myself and my neighbors? The chance to articulate these ideas is free, and the time is upon me to do so now, more so then ever for a plethora of reasons, mostly contained herein.

I am vigilant for Freedom, and never one to support taking inalienable rights from any citizen in good standing.  I state that because any system that I would help design would have this premise first and foremost as a fundamental foundation to its entire concept and be embedded into its evolution as well.

To more efficiently we fight crime, we save tax dollars, because we have less time spent  investigating that can be utilized elsewhere and  less funding paid towards the possibility and all too likely expensive overtime most departments consistently run into, and in turn, these funds could most efficiently be then utilized implementing and maintaining a system as such stated herein, as well as other areas of the budget.

These thoughts are general guidelines and suggestions to follow and consider, and I can further get more specific, if real interest is shown, as well as offer my own expertise in design and research.

A less burdened legal system (the courts in particular) also would be money saving as well, as better evidence helps to further buttress the state’s case against any criminal element, be it individual or a collective, and more often then not promises a much more efficient (think time wise = money) resolution to the legal matters so generated by an offense(s). Once again further saving tax payer dollars that could be better spent in the implementation and maintenance of said system, and/or elsewhere.

When transitioning in any aspect, finances must be considered at all angles and facets so that the expenses may be justified, and upon further examination, we can certainly find a myriad of reasons  that would further support this statement.

Keep in mind also, we may be able to place technology in “right of way” areas as well.

The greatest facet today that we are experiencing with all of this technology is the quick developmental technological evolution and price dropping of these said technologies that places us on a very exciting cusp of opportunity in so many ways today, be it more efficient energy production with less pollutants, better and safer defense, ad infinitum.

Do not overlook remote safe places where drones could be launched as well, like my roof top, as an example!, where it could reside in a safe weatherproof housing that is also a charging station, again making for a much quicker and more efficient response for law enforcement an/or EMS crews.

In 2010 I was honored to be published by the U.S. Department of Energy, and it was on the topic of utilizing this technology to build a new marketplace in this Green Era in most every aspect of modern living, giving our country the ability to be the example we have swiftly become as we are indeed in the midst of this massive paradigm shift everywhere we look today.

I have worked with computers since I was a child as well, building, programming, repairing, selling, ad infinitum, and I have also worked on cars (controlled by computers today) since I was 15, as well as bicycles in shops and at home since I was 5. My point being, at 47 today, I have a degree in science with a major in Police Science as well as a very mechanical mind. I am an artist too, writing and recording music poetry, working on a book and other projects, and aspire deeply to remain visionary in both my art and public service desires, always promoting and maintaining peace and freedom where I can assist. I feel it is a citizen’s responsibility to be both diligent and vigilant.

I have given much of this decades of thought and study and feel certain a system, as I have described herein, could easily be in service very fast, easily expandable, with minimal true expense on the ledger sheet, and in place protecting us further against those that do too often choose to infringe on our freedoms and property.

Law Enforcement and EMS employees can only be as effective as the tools they have in their collective arsenal to combat crime and/or chaos.

Let’s please seriously consider taking these measures, and carefully but quickly, plan a precise way to move forward, so offering these tools to law enforcement, EMS crews, as well as our citizens, us,  here at home to combat crime so that we can spend more money and time focusing on the larger issues at hand.
